2016 Best Article in the Journal of Urban Affairs Award

And the winners are... Pascal De Decker, Bruno Meeus and Nick Schuermans! Congratulations!

The Urban Affairs Association (UAA), the international professional association for urban scholars, researchers and public service professionals, convened its 46th Annual Conference in San Diego, California, March 16-19, 2016. More than 800 participants, representing universities, research institutions, non-profit organizations, and public and private organizations/institutions from around the world met to discuss 21st century issues impacting urban populations and places. Conference participants represented institutions from North America, South America, Europe, Asia, and Africa. San Diego State University and University of California-San Diego served as the local sponsors for the event.

During the conference, awards were presented in recognition of outstanding scholarship and service. Among those honored were Pascal De Decker (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), Bruno Meeus (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven), and Nick Schuermans (Katholieke Universiteit Leuven and Universiteit Antwerpen). They were awarded the 2016 Best Article in the Journal of Urban Affairs Award for their piece: "Geographies of Whiteness and Wealth: White, Middle Class Discourses on Segregation and Social Mix in Flanders, Belgium" published in 2015.
