Elke Vanempten is a project coordinator and scientific collaborator of the Institute for agriculture and fishery research (ILVO), where she conducts research on productive landscapes, open space development and design. She teaches in the MSc in Urban Design and Spatial Planning (SteR*) at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel. She is a board member of PlanDag vzw and of the Vlaamse Vereniging voor Ruimte & Planning (VRP). She is also a member of -JoOR (jonge onderzoekers open ruimte), an informal and voluntary platform where researchers from different institutions meet around the topic of open space.
