Coming from a social sciences background combined with an interest for mobility and spatial planning, Marijke is currently researching the link between mobility and the spatial organization of the Flemish territory. One of her projects focuses on travel behavior towards basic amenities and services, another project investigates the cost of supplying sprawled areas with basic services, such as mobility and care. She combines her work at Cosmopolis with the master in urbanism and spatial planning (STeR*). In the context of previous master studies she investigated the role of the bicycle in the context of urban mobility in São Paulo, Brazil. Before starting at Cosmopolis, she worked at a Flemish municipality as mobility advisor.
