Nishtman Karimi is conducting research on urban adaptation from a water security perspective, looking for answers to water related challenges in semi-arid and arid regions in developing countries. Her current PhD research focuses on the adaptation of the urban area of Sanandaj (Iranian Kurdistan) in the face of water related issues, taking into account social conflict and the role for environmental resilience in improving the quality of life in the city.
Nishtman has a background in Urban and Regional Planning and Environmental Assessment and has worked for a number of years as an expert, both in consultancy and in public service in Iran.
